GlobalTrak has security bred into its DNA. Our parent company, System Planning Corporation, has completed many security tasks for government and the private sector, including policy and security system implementation for security of the US strategic nuclear arsenal, security architectures for 27 new US embassies, and leading the security teams for the 1994 and 1996 Olympics. The first GlobalTrak network center and data collection devices were developed specifically for national security purposes to track and monitor incoming cargo containers after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to prevent a WMD from coming into our country.

The essential first step in cargo security is to establish the seamless, end-to-end visibility provided by our gNarus framework, whether it be from raw material acquisition through manufacturing, to warehousing and intermodal distribution, or from entry border to exit border for Customs' tracking of transshipments. GlobalTrak offers a layered security approach which allows the customer to design a custom security solution for the cargo by selecting the appropriate layers of security from GlobalTrak's options. These options include security status reporting peripherals on individual cargo elements and C-TPAT-compliant/electronic barrier bolts seals for the conveyance door.

Sophisticated business rules allow the GlobalTrak network center, the secure, online Information Management Bureau (IMB), to integrate location and sensor data from the cargo with information from shipping documents and business process documents to provide actionable security alerts and scheduled periodic reports in real/near-real time to shippers, third party logistics providers, and carriers anywhere in the world. All this activity takes place in your own secure, online Value Network on the IMB, and your laptop or PDA.

To stop loss from theft, pilferage, or diversion, choose IMB business rules and reports packages to put critical information at your fingertips.

IMB Screen Shot The gNarus framework using GlobalTrak applied to government applications is the cornerstone of the old saying "Amateurs discuss tactics: professionals discuss logistics." GlobalTrak system provides the highest level of Enhanced In-Transit-Visibility (EITV) including security and logistics management services to meet US DoD rigorous requirements. For more than 3 years, GlobalTrak has been a leading provider of visibility for our forces in theater with thousands of devices deployed. In this application, GlobalTrak is the "eyes" of the armed services, providing the mission critical information required for any successful campaign. Field hardened data collection devices add security to shipments in rough and risky environments first by making them visible in time and space and then by providing data to the Information Management Bureau to perform analysis of transit events, identify transit bottlenecks, and alert leadership and logistics managers alike in real/near-real time to trouble.

The gNarus Framework Financial Model (GFFM)
True real-time visibility and security provided by GlobalTrak technology can:

  • Increase Revenue Streams
  • Reduce Operating Costs - Reduction flows directly to P/L
  • Reduce Working Capital

The GFFM, based on the GlobalTrak Value Analyzer, is a financial tool for the GlobalTrak value proposition, allowing a company using the GlobalTrak system system to calculate and predict its return on investment, ROI, over the course of the implementation.

The financial modeling tool incorporates data from recent studies performed by M.I.T, Stanford, A.T. Kearney, and Aberdeen Group as an industry base line, then takes up to 25 company-specific parameters in a six-step process to calculate ROI over an N year adoption period.

The GFFM performs two invaluable functions for companies during implementation:

  • It quantifies the business analysis case for use of cargo intelligence throughout the company.
  • It provides implementation progress metrics.

Introducing the gNarusSM Cargo Management Framework

GlobalTrak is very pleased to announce our gNarus Cargo Management Framework. gNarus* is a concept of intelligent cargo management using the GlobalTrak platform, a ‘sense and respond’ management framework and mission/business process automation tool that offers customers operational intelligence for decision support.

The gNarus framework consists of three elements: application requirements, data collection devices accompanying shipments, and the Information Management Bureau's powerful integration of mission/business process requirements and data from the field.

Whatever your cargo application, gNarus will provide information to help your business run more smoothly, or achieve mission goals more easily - whether in theater in Southwest Asia, at your distribution center in Chicago, with your product line manager in Livorno, or at your reefer depot in Panama. The gNarus framework starts by understanding your information requirements, solving specific problems, and integrating newly available data to improve efficiency. We will design and test data collection structures with tailored business rule packages to find the best solution. Then we will work with you to implement the solution and integrate the information into your operation.

*Why gNarus? - gNarus (pronounced: nARus) is a Latin adjective meaning to have knowledge of something, be aware, skillful, or wise. The related English word ‘narration’ grows from the Latin meaning to tell, relate, recount, explain. In urban vernacular ‘Gnarly’ found origins on the US West Coast primarily by surfers and skateboarders meaning exceptional or cool.
